Normans Nursery Inc., a third generation wholesale nursery, was founded by Francis L. Norman in 1946. He was a local landscape gardener who tended to high end estates in the affluent areas of San Marino and Pasadena. Mr. Norman had a difficult time locating quality nursery stock that would be suitable for his discriminating customers, so he decided to start growing his own plants in his backyard. With permission, Francis Norman would take home pruned cuttings to be used for propagation. After a few years, his nursery filled the backyard and he eventually started growing plants on a small rented lot in Pasadena.
Charles Norman, the second generation and current president of Normans Nursery, Inc, joined the business as a teenager helping his father grow and care for the plants. Through his passion for plants and his business acumen, Charles was instrumental in the initial expansion of the nursery from the 1950's and forward to present day. He oversaw the opening of all of our growing grounds from the original yards in the San Gabriel Valley, to our Orange County El Toro yard, the Carpinteria yard in Santa Barbara County, the Linden yard in Northern California, the Ventura County yards in Fillmore and Piru and finally our Mecca yard in the desert area of Riverside County. Charles saw the nursery rise from just an acre of property to hundreds of acres of all yards combined.
Theodore (Ted) Norman is the third generation of the Normans family and currently the CEO of the company.
